Stuart Prager

Stuart Prager’s practice includes advising clients on matters relating to music publishing and copyright matters concerning music, including the termination of transfers under Sections 203 and 304 of the United States Copyright Law. He has represented Sony/ATV for many years in connection with the acquisition of music publishing catalogs, including the acquisition of the ATV catalog from Michael Jackson in 1995, the acquisition of the Acuff-Rose catalog in 2003, and the merger with EMI in 2011. He also represents the band AC/DC in all entertainment matters, including the negotiation and subsequent renegotiation of the band’s recording agreement with Sony Music. He has represented Music Sales Corporation for more than 20 years in connection with the acquisition of more than 50 music catalogs. Before joining Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks, P.C. in 2005, Stuart practiced for 27 years at the firm of Abeles Clark Osterberg and Prager, later known as Clark and Prager, where he litigated music related contract and copyright infringement cases in the federal and state courts in New York County, and argued appeals in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
